Cloud Seas: Backcountry Skiing in Oregon & Washington

The Old Cascades are the great-grandparents to the well-known stratovolcanoes of the Cascade Range. They bear little resemblance to the younger volcanic peaks, having been severely eroded by weather and time. They now share the complex ridge, cliff, and valley features of other older mountain chains and rarely exceed 6000 feet in elevation.
