Mt. St. Helens

Sunrise near the Worm Flows.
Early morning skin track.
Early light on the mountain.
Punching in and going to work. Line of ascent follows the left shoulder of the large gully on the right
Taking a break at around 6K.
Summit St Helens
The summit ... April 13, 1999. Not truly a summit but merely the edge of the crater . . . about 15 feet from the actual rim. The rim itself is basically a cornice - failure of which means a 2000 vertical foot "unplanned glissade" !!!!

Mt. Adams can be seen in the background.

The climb earns you a one-hour 6000 vertical foot descent back to the Marble Mountain Sno-Park.

The lava dome
Looking down into the crater at the lava dome. See also: "unplanned glissade"!!

Spirit Lake and Mt. Rainier in the distance (center-right).

(sorry about the cheesy piece-together pan)

Fresh tracks on the lower mountain.
