6/12/99
Sort of a "meet in the middle" trip. Jon drove up from Colorado and I drove straight East from Portland. We met in Jackson Hole at the Snow King Resort at about 8am on a Friday. Stopped off for a grease breakfast and then made our way up to Teton Pass to ski Glory Bowl.
After parking and gathering our gear, we started up. After we had nearly topped out on Glory we looked down and noticed my car (looking tiny WAY down in the pass) with the driver side door all the way open. So. . . not only did any of the hundreds of people pulling off at the pass have the opportunity to pilfer all of my gear, the battery was going to get pummeled - at least until we made it back.

While I was geeking on the scenery Jon popped a celebratory "start the trip off right" beer. We dropped in when our work was completed.

We skiied the bowl til well below a pinch in the slide path where the snow ran out and then contoured around the hill to meet up with the road. In a short hike we were back to the cars. The Oldsmobubba started without a cough.
Back down into Jackson and then North to the base of the Tetons for an overnight camp before
hitting Static Peak.
