A Robertson County school resource officer was arrested Friday on charges of sexual battery by an authority figure, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. According to TBI, Charles Logan Abernathy, a Cross Plains police officer, was on-duty at East Robertson High School when he committed sexual battery of a minor victim on Aug. 11 while serving as the minor victim�s school resource officer.
Abernathy was arrested Friday afternoon in Portland, Tenn., by TBI special agents with help from the Robertson County Sheriff�s Office SWAT Team and the Sumner County Sheriff�s Office.
He was charged with five counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and was booked into the Robertson County Jail on a $200,000 bond, according to TBI.
The investigation, which began Wednesday, was done at the request of 19th District Attorney General John Carney.
